The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility of detecting walking, running and climbing stairs episodes in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) patients in a controlled environment. ActiMyo is a new device, designed to assess activity level in ambulant and non-ambulant patients with neuromuscular diseases outside the hospital environment. ActiMyo is composed of two watch-like devices that use magneto-inertial sensors to compute activity and gait variables. Automatic activity recognition is a supervised machine learning technique that can be used to infer activities from a large range of inputs.
