Anti-mitochondrial antibodies are not a hallmark for severity in inflammatory myopathies

Anti-mitochondrial antibodies type 2 (AMA2) are classical hallmarks of primary biliary cholangitis. They have been involved in inflammatory myopathies in a Japanese cohort, then associated with frequent cardiac involvement, muscle atrophy and granuloma. To confirm these findings we conducted an analysis on AMA2+ patients identified in our prospective cohort of patients. On November 2015 we screened the myositis database. AMA2 were assessed with line immunoassays for multiparametric detection (Euroimmun®, Luebeck, Germany).
