Long term follow-up of neuromuscular patients and family members submitted to psychoanalytical treatment


Since 2006 a total of 200 individuals including patients and healthy relatives from families with neuromuscular disorders were seen and treated at HUG-CELL by a team of psychoanalysts. The aim of the present report is to evaluate the long-term impact of the psychoanalytical treatment in this group of individuals. The diagnosis of patients included myotonic dystrophy, spinocerebelar ataxia, limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, Freidreich ataxia among others.
