We need cost-effective health care models that improve access without compromising patient safety and satisfaction. Initial clinic visits in epilepsy patients are used to make an etiological diagnosis, start and titrate antiepileptic drug (AED) treatment. Subsequent clinic visits serve to emphasize adherence, check seizure control, monitor chronic AED-related adverse effects and discuss any patient concerns. Physical examination or investigations are neither necessary nor routinely repeated at every visit.
