Muscle biopsy is a valuable tool in the diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases and translational research area. It is also a good tool to investigate the etiologies of several diseases by establishing primary myoblast cell culture. As the cells lose viability, it is recommended to create primary myoblast cell culture in a few hours after the muscle biopsy specimen is received. Here we describe a novel technique for establishing myoblast cell culture from cryopreserved skeletal muscle biopsy tissues which is useful for retrospective studies.
