Exercise induced kidney failure has been recently associated with renal hypouricemia type 2 caused by mutations in the SLC2A9 gene. Here we present the exercise profile of two patients with genetically confirmed disease. Both patients were exercised as part of the routine diagnostic evaluation at the UK Specialised Service for McArdle and related disorders. Non-ischaemic forearm exercise test and incremental cycle-ergometer exercise test were performed assessing serum levels of ammonia, lactate, kidney function, CK, urate and glucose during and post exercise to evaluate minimal kidney function changes during moderate-intensity physical activity.
