  • Prevalence of Traumatic Brain Injury in Detained Youth: Associations With Aggression, Violent Charges, and Behavioral Infractions
CONCLUSIONS: TBI is common among detained youth and is selectively associated with elevated physical aggression. Routine TBI screening at intake and interventions targeting impulse control and emotion regulation may improve outcomes for this high-risk population.
  • Gliatilin in the Treatment of Cognitive Impairments Not Reaching the Level of Dementia: Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: The main challenge during the analysis was methodological, population, and statistical heterogeneity, which required not only the use of a random effects model but also active search and exclusion of some sources. However, despite several limitations, the internal consistency and absence of contradictions in the analysis results demonstrated the robustness of the evidence obtained. […]
  • Relationships between vestibular dysfunction and cognitive performance in military veterans with mild to moderate TBI
Objective: Vestibular dysfunction is common following mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI) and impacts quality of life. However, little is known regarding the persistence and stability of vestibular symptoms over time and their effects on cognition. This study examined self-reported vestibular symptoms 1 to 2 years following mild-to-moderate TBI in a Military/Veteran cohort. We further evaluated […]
  • Within-Person Score Distribution Measures as Performance Validity Indicators in Service Members and Veterans with and without History of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury
CONCLUSIONS: OTBM and ABN demonstrated strong potential for use as embedded PVTs with excellent classification accuracy. CV displayed lower classification accuracy with group differences primarily due to changes in mean performance rather than increased dispersion. Further development and cross-validation of WPSD-based PVTs is warranted in civilian samples.
  • Persistent dysmorphology and dysfunction of the brain microvasculature following repeated trauma
Mild traumatic brain injury typically produces no abnormalities on neuroimaging yet elicits symptoms that, in an increasing fraction of survivors, linger for years, particularly with recurring injuries. To elucidate the underlying biological substrates, we leveraged two-photon fluorescence microscopy resonant scanning and our recently developed deep-learning based pipeline to evaluate the cerebrovascular network in the subacute […]
