  • Association between concussion-reporting intention and reporting behavior in a simulated game setting
CONCLUSIONS: Concussion-reporting behavior in a novel, first-person simulated in-game experience is higher among individuals with higher baseline concussion-reporting intention. This approach may offer promise for evaluating concussion-reporting intention and concussion-reporting behavior via interactive video simulation.
  • A Comparison of Determinants of Musculoskeletal and Concussion Injury Disclosure in Adolescent Athletes: An Alternative Explanation for Secondary Musculoskeletal Injury Risk After Concussion
CONCLUSIONS: Intention to disclose a concussion was positively associated with intention to disclose an MSK injury. Future studies should address the effect of cross-cutting interventions to improve attitudes surrounding concussion and MSK injury disclosure that may also influence perceived social norms surrounding injury reporting.
  • Caregiver education as a protective factor against psychopathology following mild traumatic brain injury in youth
PURPOSE: Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is a common injury in youth, and it has been shown to be related to a host of externalizing and internalizing symptoms. The long-term impact of mTBI may be greater for youth from marginalized backgrounds. Additionally, mental health symptoms present prior to the injury may also affect responses to […]
  • Exploring the Impact of Mitoquinone Supplementation on Glycan Profiles in a Repeated Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Mouse Model
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) represents a significant cause of injury-related deaths and disabilities. Repeated exposure to mechanical impact can lead to metabolic and ionic imbalance, which can cause oxidative stress and worsen the cellular dysfunction initiated by the initial mild TBI (mTBI). Currently, no FDA-approved drug targets repeated mTBI (rmTBI) and its potential sequelae. Mitoquinone […]
  • Outpatient Follow-up After Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury at an Urban Safety Net Hospital: A Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Patient-centered discharge instructions with detailed service referrals increase access to critical follow-up care. Children with TBIs should have follow-up care arranged regardless of injury severity. Larger multicenter studies are needed to validate these findings.
