  • MRI investigation of orientation-dependent changes in microstructure and function in a mouse model of mild traumatic brain injury
While neuroimaging studies have revealed notable white matter damage following mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), the specific tracts and brain regions affected vary widely across studies. Here, we explored whether the spatial orientation of white matter tracts influences susceptibility to repeated mTBI, predicting that tracts oriented orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the head […]
  • Impulse Dyscontrol Symptoms Are Related to Amyloid Beta in Patients With Subjective Cognitive Decline and Mild Cognitive Impairment
CONCLUSION: The study identified a significant correlation between domain C of the MBI-C and CSF beta-amyloid peptide analysing Brazilian patients with SCD and MCI. The results reinforce the hypothesis of the relationship between impulsivity symptoms and amyloid pathology. Further studies involving the correlations between MBI and neuropsychiatric symptoms with AD CSF biomarkers are necessary.
  • 2025 guideline update to acute treatment of migraine for adults in the emergency department: The American Headache Society evidence assessment of parenteral pharmacotherapies
CONCLUSIONS: Prochlorperazine IV and GONB must be offered to eligible adults presenting to the ED with a migraine attack for treatment of headache requiring parenteral therapy (level A - must offer) in those without contraindications, while hydromorphone IV must not be offered (level A - must not offer). Treatments that should be offered when appropriate […]
  • Knee Biomechanics in Individuals With a Recent Concussion During Jump-Landing Tasks
CONCLUSIONS: The concussion history group demonstrated similar knee biomechanical profiles to the healthy reference group during landing even with added cognitive demands in jump-landing tasks. Elevated lower extremity musculoskeletal injury risk postconcussion may not be detectable through jump-landing biomechanics.
  • Effect of anticoagulation on isolated traumatic brain injury mortality using TQIP database: a propensity score analysis stratified by head injury severity
INTRODUCTION: The impact of anticoagulation (AC) on traumatic brain injury (TBI) outcomes remains varied in the literature. Previous studies often relied on single-center data, small sample sizes, or lacked adjustments for key confounding variables. This study used the population-based Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) database to analyze the effect of AC on isolated TBI mortality, […]
