  • Neuroimaging correlates of symptom burden and functional recovery following mild traumatic brain injury: A systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Acute MRI, when contextualised with clinical data, helps delineate correlates of mTBI symptom burden and functional recovery. To strengthen inference, future neuroimaging studies should prespecify and report symptom burden and functional recovery as core endpoints.
  • Structural brain alterations and predictors of clinical improvement in functional cognitive disorder after concussion
Functional cognitive disorder (FCD) is an under-studied yet likely prevalent subtype of functional neurological disorder (FND), with neural mechanisms that remain poorly understood. While studies of other FND subtypes have revealed structural and functional brain alterations across several large-scale brain networks, no study to date has investigated neural alterations in FCD. Here, we examined structural […]
  • Long-term health outcomes of adolescent mTBI: a scoping review
CONCLUSION: This review provides insight into the potential long-term concerns of adolescent mTBI and highlights areas needing further research for more robust conclusions. The review identifies critical considerations for health professionals when assessing adolescents with mTBI and creating recovery plans to promote full recovery with limited long-term impact.
  • Exploring sports-related concussion awareness and response amongst teenage grassroots soccer players in the UK: a qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: Effective SRC management requires tailored education programs to overcome barriers and promote safety within grassroots youth soccer. Addressing gender norms and enhancing education can foster a culture of support and accountability, safeguarding the well-being of young athletes. There is a need for better awareness and more precautionary behaviors among all stakeholders in grassroots soccer.
  • The Clinical Utility of a Novel Multimodal Assessment Battery for Acute Sport-Related Concussion
CONCLUSIONS: Symptom exacerbation during submaximal cardiovascular exercise and postural sway demonstrated clinical utility in detecting impairment within 7 days of a sport-related concussion, whereas event-related potentials and heart rate change during sustained handgrip did not.
