  • VOMS Baseline Versus Postinjury: A Comparison of a Standardized Novel Prototype and a Virtual Reality Application in Sport-Related Concussion

  • Factors Associated With Cardiovascular Mortality After Complicated Mild to Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): A TBI Model Systems Study
CONCLUSION: Over 1 in 5 deaths following TBI were due to cardiovascular causes. Older age, male sex, being divorced, and having lower FIM motor scores are risk factors, whereas being employed, having private health insurance, and PTA >30 days are protective factors for cardiovascular mortality.
  • Prevalence of mild cognitive impairment among former elite athletes without a history of sport-related concussions compared to the general older population: a protocol for a cross-sectional study with exploratory subgroup analyses
INTRODUCTION: Epidemiological evidence regarding the impact of elite athletic careers on cognitive trajectories remains contentious. Although consistent physical activity has been associated with long-term brain health, former elite athletes appear to represent a unique population. While past research has established a connection between sport-related concussions (SRCs) and later cognitive decline, less attention has been given […]
  • Patient voices to enhance concussion research participation: an exploratory qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: Focused efforts in planning to recruit and retain vulnerable populations for research are paramount. Based on our exploratory findings from a limited sample, we offer patient-reported insights to reflect upon the ongoing learning process to optimize recruitment and retention in the field of concussion research.
