  • Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation in Older Adolescent with Chronic Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Case Study of Clinical and Functional Connectivity
This is the first case study, to our knowledge, to document pre- and post-tDCS resting-state functional MRI changes between the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and brainstem in an adolescent with chronic post-concussive symptoms following multiple mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBIs). By demonstrating that cortico-brainstem connectivity can be modulated through noninvasive neuromodulation, the novel findings of […]
  • On-pitch concussion management: a view of healthcare professionals in elite football
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the current findings, research should focus on developing multimodal testing batteries to detect concussion on-pitch, while football should consider implementing video analysis at all levels and temporary concussion substitutes.
  • The Impact of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Sustained with Blast or Nonblast Mechanism During Combat or Noncombat Deployment on Community Reintegration
Community reintegration serves an integral role to enhance veterans' quality of life as they transition to civilian life. Unsuccessful reintegration after military separation may contribute to the relative increase in adverse outcomes such as homelessness and suicide in this population. Mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been linked to poor mental health, which, in turn, […]
  • MRI investigation of orientation-dependent changes in microstructure and function in a mouse model of mild traumatic brain injury
While neuroimaging studies have revealed notable white matter damage following mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), the specific tracts and brain regions affected vary widely across studies. Here, we explored whether the spatial orientation of white matter tracts influences susceptibility to repeated mTBI, predicting that tracts oriented orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the head […]
  • Impulse Dyscontrol Symptoms Are Related to Amyloid Beta in Patients With Subjective Cognitive Decline and Mild Cognitive Impairment
CONCLUSION: The study identified a significant correlation between domain C of the MBI-C and CSF beta-amyloid peptide analysing Brazilian patients with SCD and MCI. The results reinforce the hypothesis of the relationship between impulsivity symptoms and amyloid pathology. Further studies involving the correlations between MBI and neuropsychiatric symptoms with AD CSF biomarkers are necessary.
