  • Factors associated with concussion during combatives activities in a military training environment
CONCLUSION: Females, higher BSI and BESS total scores at baseline, and participants with a history of headaches had greater odds of sustaining a combatives-related concussion during the follow-up period. Conversely, participants in high contact varsity sports had lower odds of sustaining a combatives-related concussion. These different variables should be taken into account when designing combatives […]
  • Impact of oxygen and carbon dioxide levels on mortality in moderate to severe traumatic brain injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: In adults with msTBI, hypoxia and hypocapnia were independently associated with increased mortality, underscoring the importance of prompt recognition and targeted management of these secondary injuries. The role of hypercapnia remains unclear, warranting further investigation.
  • Construction of a predictive model for hospital-acquired pneumonia risk in patients with mild traumatic brain injury based on LASSO-Logistic regression analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The cause of injury being a traffic accident, NEUT, ESR, FBG, PT, APTT, Alb, BUN, and Na^(+) are identified as major risk factors influencing the occurrence of HAP in mTBI patients. The prediction model constructed using these parameters effectively assesses the likelihood of HAP in mTBI patients.
  • Engaging children, young adults, and other partners to identify priorities for sport related concussion research
CONCLUSIONS: Across two years, we developed an engaged and collaborative group of partners and identified, discussed, and prioritized CER questions that reflect the priorities and outcomes that matter most to our engagement partners.
  • Curcumin-Rich Curry Consumption Is Associated with Lower Risk of Cognitive Decline and Incidence of Mild Cognitive Impairment or Dementia: An Asian Population-Based Study
CONCLUSIONS: The intake of dietary curcumin through curry shows a dose-dependent reduction in incidence of cognitive decline and MCI-dementia in this Asian population of community-based elders.
