  • The incidence and burden of concussion in men's and women's English professional football
CONCLUSION: These data provide benchmark statistics for concussions in elite English football, enabling comparisons and assessing the efficacy of future concussion prevention strategies. Contextual factors such as sex (women>men), activity (matches>training), and level (international>domestic) influence the incidence and burden of concussion injuries.
  • Venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in adults with acute traumatic brain injury: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical evidence on the timing and type of VTEp for adults with acute TBI is of insufficient quality for clinical decision-making. Prospective research designs, standardization of TBI severity labeling, and improved reporting of interventions and outcomes would advance the field.
  • Bolt gun injury to central forehead, sagittal sinus and frontal lobes: A case report
CONCLUSION: This case report highlights multiple lessons which contributed to successful management of a bolt gun injury to the head: preoperative CT angiography, craniectomy if indicated, cautious debridement and prophylactic antibiotics.
  • Upper Limb Movement Performance in Individuals Sustaining Mild Traumatic Brain Injuries
CONCLUSION: After sustaining a mild TBI, individuals have deficient UL movement performance. Use of kinematic analyses can help uncover latent deficits in those with perfect scores on clinical assessments.
  • Cognitive weaknesses or impairments on the NIH toolbox cognition battery in children and adolescents: base rates in a normative sample and proposed methods for classification
INTRODUCTION: The National Institutes of Health Toolbox for Assessment of Neurological and Behavioral Function Cognition Battery (NIHTB-CB) is a brief neuropsychological battery for the assessment of crystalized (i.e., vocabulary and word reading) and fluid cognition (i.e., working memory, visual episodic memory, processing speed, and executive functions). This study examined the frequency of low NIHTB-CB scores […]
