  • Trauma Exposure Across the Lifespan Is Associated With Persistent Mild TBI Symptoms in US Military Veterans
CONCLUSION: These findings support the inclusion of comprehensive lifetime trauma assessment in chronic mTBI rehabilitation conceptualizations and underscore the potentially prominent role that psychological stressors play in the persistence of mTBI sequelae.
  • Psychological Health of Female Service Members and Veterans Associated With Mild Traumatic Brain Injury History: A LIMBIC-CENC Study
CONCLUSIONS: FSMVs with ≥1 mTBI history reported greater psychological symptoms than those without. Among FSMVs with lifetime mTBI history, combat-mTBI history was associated with worse PTSD, life satisfaction, and anxiety symptoms. Our findings indicate that a single mTBI, notably combat-related, may adversely impact psychological health, but future research is necessary for longitudinal, comprehensive FSMV health […]
  • Clinical Outcomes in the Patient With Traumatic Brain Injury and Comorbid Obesity: A Scoping Review
Very few studies exist examining the effects of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in patients with obesity, which is notable given that mTBI represents ~80% of all recorded TBIs. Given that approximately 40% of US adults have an obese body mass index (with predictions that this proportion will continue to increase), it would be prudent […]

  • Targeted complement inhibition ameliorates the pathological and cognitive outcomes in repetitive mild closed head injury
Repeated mild closed head injury (rmCHI) is a significant public health concern, and this type of repetitive injury is garnering increasing attention, not least because of its increasing incidence in sports. The underlying neuroimmune mechanisms secondary to trauma that link rmCHI to cognitive impairment remain to be elucidated, and the contribution of the complement system […]
