  • Interpreting Change in Sport Concussion Assessment Tool-5th Edition (SCAT5) Scores in National Rugby League Women's Premiership Players
CONCLUSION: SCAT5 scores had low to moderate test-retest reliability across a one-year period. Reliable change scores for the SCAT5 were developed in this study for use with professional women rugby league players. When evaluating post-injury SCAT5 scores, it can be helpful to consider both what the score means compared to normative reference values and compared […]
  • An Analysis of Guardian Cap Use and Changes in the Concussion Rate in National Football League Preseason Practices From 2018 to 2023
CONCLUSION: Required use of the Guardian Cap NXT was associated with a 54% to 62% reduction in the overall incidence of NFL practice concussions. However, when only concussions involving a helmet shell impact were considered, there was no longer a significant relationship between Guardian Cap NXT use and the incidence of concussions.
  • Selecting outcome measures to validate prognostic biomarkers of paediatric mild traumatic brain injury: challenges and priorities
Outcomes following paediatric mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) are extremely heterogenous. While emerging biomarkers promise enhanced prognostic accuracy, a critical question remains unanswered-which outcome measures provide the most accurate assessment of injury impact? In this article, we highlight barriers to selecting appropriate outcome measures, including variability in how outcomes are defined and the wide range […]
