  • Defining significant acute traumatic intracranial injuries in adult patients with traumatic brain injury: a narrative review
CONCLUSION: To date, there is no contemporary consensus definition of a significant acute traumatic intracranial lesion in patients presenting with TBI. Several factors appear essential for defining a significant lesion, including comorbidities, clinical presentation, CT scan injury characteristics and biomarkers.
  • Combined transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) and cognitive training (CT) for cognitive impairment: Evidence from clinical applications and basic research
Cognitive impairment is a serious pathological feature of neuropsychiatric disorders, making the exploration of effective treatments urgent. Recent research shows that combined transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) and cognitive training (CT) can reduce cognitive deficits. This review summarizes studies on neurological disorders that use both clinical patients and rodent models to highlight the underlying neural mechanisms. […]
  • Outcomes of soccer-related concussion: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: The literature on outcomes following SoRC remains mixed. The limited and inconsistent evidence across symptoms, recovery, and neurocognitive domains highlights the need for standardised measures and more longitudinal studies to guide clinical management and the development of RTP protocols. PROSPERO Registration Number CRD42024519427.
  • Relationship Between Sport Specialization and Short-Term Health-Related Quality of Life in Youth Athletes After Injury
CONCLUSION: Higher level of sport specialization is not associated with worse HRQoL approximately 1 month after sport-related injury. Female athletes have worse short-term HRQoL after an injury irrespective of sport specialization level. While sex differences were statistically significant, the magnitude of differences was small.
  • Behavioral treatment of insomnia in active-duty service members with traumatic brain injury: study protocol for a randomized clinical trial
BACKGROUND: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the U.S. military can result in lasting health issues, with insomnia being a common symptom that worsens recovery, cognitive function, and performance, especially when combined with common co-occurring conditions like chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression. Insomnia may be an important intervention target for managing post-concussive symptoms […]
