  • Non-Targeted Analysis of Extracellular Vesicle-Enriched Plasma Proteome Between Early and Late Rugby Playing Career
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Proteins associated with neuroprotection were specifically depleted in the plasma EV proteome of long-serving professional rugby players. The proteins highlighted in professional rugby players could be used to develop biomarker panels for predicting at-risk athletes or for guiding treatment interventions.
  • Rare "double tragedy" and successful salvage strategy after failed bilateral humeral fracture fixation in a resource-constrained setting: a case report
CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the challenges of managing complex orthopaedic trauma in low-resource settings, where inadequate healthcare infrastructure, limited access to suitable implants, and insufficient health insurance coverage exacerbate treatment difficulties. The successful outcome in this case was achieved through staged treatment, collaboration with the patient, and the use of donated SIGN nails. The report […]
  • Does strengthening the cervical spine musculature enhance neck strength and reduce sports-related concussions in rugby and football players? A systematic literature review
CONCLUSION: The evidence in this systematic review suggests that the incorporation of CMS programs into rugby training may reduce concussion risk by almost half. However, further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of CMS in football and female rugby players.
  • Development and psychometric validation of a concussion symptom assessment tool for combat sports athletes
CONCLUSION: The COMBAT-PMS is a reliable, valid 23-item scale integrating physical and motivational concussion symptoms. It pioneers targeted assessment for combat sports, enabling early detection of head trauma impacts and challenging pain normalization to support safer athletic careers.
