  • Time-limited association between plasma transfusion and mortality in pediatric traumatic brain injury
CONCLUSION: This study reports a significant association between early plasma administration and a lower risk of 4-hour mortality among children with severe TBI that does not persist at or beyond 24 hours. While these data suggest that plasma resuscitation may extend the window for lifesaving intervention, additional prospective data are needed.
  • Cellular mechanisms of traumatic brain injury
Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is an acute injury with immediate and medium-term symptom presentation. However, our mechanistic understanding of mTBI and how mechanical loading of soft cellular tissues leads to injury is limited. The aim of this review is to introduce this interdisciplinary field to non-experts and provide an overview of our current understanding […]

A systematic review and meta-analysis, published in April of 2025, was designed to examine the prevalence, risk factors, and potential outcomes of CTE neuropathologic change (CTE-NC) in former athletes and concluded that suicide was a potential outcome of CTE-NC (Qi et al., […]
  • Regional and Global Changes in Brain Structure 1-Year Post Pediatric "Mild" Traumatic Brain Injury
OBJECTIVE: Despite the high prevalence of pediatric "mild" traumatic brain injury (pmTBI), very little is known about the long-term effects of injury on brain structure and how injuries manifest in the context of dynamic and regionally specific neurodevelopmental changes.
