  • The utility of psychological readiness scales in predicting return to sport: a systematic review
CONCLUSION: This review underscores the value of psychological readiness assessments as predictors of RTS outcomes. The findings support their clinical utility, while also highlighting the need for further research into injury-specific and objective measures to enhance assessment accuracy. This systematic review has been registered in PROSPERO (registration number: CRD42025642947).
  • Neural reward processing among children with conduct disorder and mild traumatic brain injury in the ABCD study
CONCLUSIONS: Increased left amygdala and hippocampus activation in children with conduct disorder and a history of mild traumatic brain injury may reflect robust encoding of emotionally charged reward experiences, potentially reinforcing memory-guided, reward-seeking behaviors.
  • Impact of adverse childhood experiences on concussion recovery: Findings from the Toronto concussion study
CONCLUSIONS: Exposure to ACEs may sensitize individuals to concussion symptom endorsement in the acute stages but do not appear to prolong recovery from concussion. These findings support that clinicians should be aware of the impact of childhood traumas on an individual's health and assist in tailoring and providing individualized treatment plans, education and resources post-concussion.
  • Assessing Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury and Health-Related Quality of Life in Three Eastern European Countries
CONCLUSIONS: Even mild pediatric TBIs can negatively affect HRQoL, particularly in older children. Incorporating HRQoL measures into TBI registries in LMICs can support evidence-based care, guide targeted interventions, and inform health policy in resource-limited settings.
  • Pediatric concussion characteristics differ based on age
CONCLUSIONS: The results build on previous studies showing that younger pediatric patients sustain concussions mostly from non-sports mechanisms and endorse fewer symptoms which could be due to lower severity of injury and/or primarily relying on parent reporting of observable concussion symptoms. Pediatric concussion mechanism and presentation differ across ages, emphasizing the importance of age-appropriate symptom […]
