  • Uncovering injury-specific proteomic signatures and neurodegenerative risks in single and repetitive traumatic brain injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health concern associated with an increased risk of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms in repetitive TBI remain poorly defined. This study investigates proteomic and behavioral changes following single and repetitive mild TBI in a […]

  • High-definition transcranial direct current stimulation improved dynamic postural control in patients with concussion: A randomised crossover trial
Concussions appear to have lingering effects, with persistent impairment of dynamic and static postural control. The study aimed to ascertain whether anodal High-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) over the primary motor cortex, could treat postural control impairments in patients with concussion history. Twenty participants with concussion history were pre-tested using computerised dynamic posturography, which […]
  • Pituitary Dysfunction Following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury in Female Athletes: Neuropsychological and Psychological Findings
BackgroundPituitary dysfunction (PD) and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) can affect neuropsychological and psychological functioning.ObjectiveThe aim of the study was to report neuropsychological and psychological outcomes in female athletes with PD following mTBI. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first study to report these findings in an all-female population.Materials and methodsFemale athletes […]
  • Sex Differences in Head Acceleration Events in Law Enforcement Corrections Cadets
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, sex differences in HAE frequency and magnitude during subject control technique trainings were minimal. When differences were observed, female cadets exhibited less frequent and less severe HAEs than male cadets. This finding suggests that current training practices, including sex- and/or skill-matched pairing, may effectively reduce HAE exposure risk to females.
