  • Active Rehabilitation Following Acute Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: Individualized active rehabilitation prescribed within one-month post-mTBI appears to be safe and effective at decreasing recovery time to symptom resolution in mTBI. However, there is a lack of consensus regarding specific intervention protocols that needs to be addressed before adoption within clinical practice.
  • Connecting the Dots: The Role of Pediatric Concussion on Pubertal Hormones and Psychological Health
PURPOSE: Psychological health issues resulting from emotional dysregulation such as anxiety and depression following pediatric concussion are a public health concern, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Puberty opens a window of vulnerability for emotion dysregulation and a link between pediatric concussion and hormonal deficits has been reported. We investigated the association between pubertal hormones […]
  • Patterns of Post-Concussive Symptoms Following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: Longitudinal Data in Children and Adults to Examine Sex Differences Across the Life Span
OBJECTIVE: To examine sex- and age-related differences in patterns of post-concussive symptoms (PCS), across cognitive, somatic, emotional, and behavioral domains, and their recovery within the first 6 months after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), and their relation to participation.
  • Research Letter: Safety, Feasibility, Acceptability and Preliminary Findings From Veterans' Intervention Blending NeuRomodulation and YogA for Chronic PaiN Treatment: VIBRANT-MTBI and Chronic Pain Pilot
CONCLUSIONS: Lack of serious adverse events suggests that the iTBS + LYByoga intervention is safe among veterans with mTBI + CP. The program's feasibility and acceptability coupled with improvements in self-reported pain outcomes warrants further research in a larger, randomized control trial.
  • Examination of the Association Between History of Self-Reported Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Neurocognitive Performance
CONCLUSION: After adjusting for demographic and genetic factors, no significant differences were found between children with mTBI and OI/NI. The findings highlight the importance of accounting for demographic, socioeconomic, and genetic confounders, as well as selecting appropriate control groups, when analyzing cognitive differences of children with mTBI.
