  • Utility of the Brain Gauge in Traumatic Brain Injury: Results of the Al Asad Missile Exposure Traumatic Brain Injury and Health Implications Study
CONCLUSION: Brain Gauge performance is significantly impaired upon initial administration weeks after blast TBI in SMs but shows improvement upon readministration 4-5 days later. Findings in this small sample require replication in larger populations.
  • The feasibility and efficacy of a virtual, symptom-guided aerobic exercise intervention to improve cognition in mild traumatic brain injury: A single-blind pilot randomized control trial with an active comparator group
CONCLUSION: These findings establish that virtual, supervised, symptom-guided exercise interventions are feasible and safe for mTBI populations, with preliminary evidence suggesting aerobic exercise specifically benefits cognitive flexibility and sleep quality following mTBI. A fully powered randomized controlled trial is warranted to confirm these effects.
  • Clinical Manifestations
The prognosis of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and corticobasal syndrome (CBS) involves a survival shorter than 10-years since symptom onset with development of marked disability. Patients will often progress to require increased assisstance with daily living activities, and symptomatic therapies with partial effectiveness that lead to experiencing decreased quality of life. Speech difficulties and swallowing […]
  • Office-based Neurophysiological Assessments for Diagnosis and Prognosis of Concussion
Patients with concussion often receive insufficient and/or ineffective diagnostic workups. A limiting factor for prompt and accurate diagnosis is the scarcity of practical and effective concussion diagnostics that can be used by private-practice physicians. This gap in the diagnostic process can delay the implementation of crucial interventions. The absence of an affirmative concussion diagnosis leaves […]
  • Retraining dorsal visual pathways improves cognitive skills and executive control networks following mild traumatic brain injury
CONCLUSION: Dorsal visual pathway retraining followed by targeted working memory exercises demonstrates superior therapeutic efficacy for cognitive rehabilitation following mTBI compared to conventional approaches. The intervention promotes beneficial neuroplasticity extending to memory-related brain regions, supporting its potential as a targeted, mechanistically-informed therapy for post-concussive cognitive deficits.
