  • Establishing the link between post-concussive symptoms and brain network dysfunction: A systematic scoping review of neuroimaging evidence
Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is a prevalent condition with symptoms spanning physical, psychological, cognitive, and sleep domains. Altered functional brain networks have been implicated in mTBI, but the relationship between these network changes and post-concussive symptoms remains poorly understood. This study is a systematic scoping review, adhering to PRISMA-ScR guidelines, assessing current literature on […]
  • Effect of prior traumatic brain injury on Alzheimer's disease blood biomarkers in Vietnam Veterans
IMPORTANCE: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a risk factor for dementia and is known to impact levels of several Alzheimer's disease (AD) blood biomarkers. Plasma pTau217/ Aβ42 ratio has been reported to be 90% accurate for detection of brain amyloid in civilian cohorts.
  • Repeated Mild Head Injury Establishes a Senescent Cranial Bone Marrow Niche that Impairs Brain Metabolism
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) of any severity is associated with long-term systemic inflammation and increased risk of peripheral comorbidities, yet the mechanisms driving immune dysregulation and accelerated aging after repeated mild head impacts remain poorly defined. Here, we investigated the acute and chronic effects of repeated mild TBI (rmTBI) on distal and proximal bone marrow […]

  • Cumulative effects of mild traumatic brain injury in the general population: persistent post-concussion symptoms and post-traumatic stress
CONCLUSIONS: Multiple mTBIs are linked to increased PPCS and PTSD/C-PTSD severity in the general population. Early identification and tailored interventions are essential to reduce long-term psychological and neurological effects.
