  • Bedside Ultrasonographic Measurement of Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter for Assessing Increased Intracranial Pressure: An Observational Study
Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of disability and mortality, particularly in resource-limited settings where advanced neuromonitoring tools are often unavailable. Elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) is a serious and potentially life-threatening complication of TBI. Traditional methods for monitoring ICP are invasive, expensive, and require specialized expertise. Ultrasonographic measurement of the optic nerve […]
  • Early-Life Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Alters Neurodevelopment and Behavior in Mice
Approximately 280 children per 100,000 experience closed-head injuries each year, with over 80% being mild in severity. While most children with mild injuries do not require admission to a hospital and recover well over time, some children experience persistent behavioral and cognitive abnormalities that continue into adolescence. Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) during early life […]
  • Optimizing pediatric "Mild" traumatic brain injury assessments: A multi-domain random forest analysis of diagnosis and outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians should adopt a tailored approach for clinical assessments across different post-injury intervals to enhance clinical care, shorten assessment batteries, and better understand recovery in children with "mild" TBI.
  • Instrumented Dual-Task Tests Help for Concussion Assessment in Ice Hockey
CONCLUSION: DT assessments can detect residual cognitive impairments even after other clinical symptoms have resolved. These tests offer medical staff objective insights, facilitating informed decision-making during the return-to-play process.
  • Objective Versus Subjective Cognitive Status Following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: The Role of Psychological Factors
CONCLUSIONS: Consistent with prior research, elevated psychological symptoms burden was associated with higher subjective cognitive complaints in relation to objective cognitive abilities. These results highlight the continued need for psychological intervention in post-mTBI recovery.
