  • Assessing Brain Neurophysiology in COVID-19 Patients With Prolonged Cognitive Fatigue: A Comparison With Persistent Post-concussion Symptoms
CONCLUSIONS: Our data demonstrate that ERP deficits, characteristic of cognitive decline in conditions like concussion, PPCS, and aging, are replicable in long COVID patients. Notably, these electrophysiological abnormalities (reduced P300 amplitude and altered coherence) correlate with quantifiable cognitive fatigue and functional neurological impairments. Biomarker normalization tracked with symptom resolution at follow-up (20 ± 8 months), […]
  • Hypothermia therapy enhances cognitive and motor recovery in patients with traumatic brain injury: a 6-month retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: Hypothermia therapy significantly improved cognitive and motor recovery in TBI patients, enhanced consciousness levels, and increased patient satisfaction rate.
  • An Adolescent Football Player With Persistent Headaches Following a Concussion: A Case of Primary Arachnoid Cyst
Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) is a common sequela of mild traumatic brain injury in adolescent athletes, typically resolving within weeks. However, persistent or atypical symptoms warrant further investigation to exclude structural pathology. Arachnoid cysts, though often incidental, can become symptomatic following trauma and may mimic or exacerbate PCS. A previously healthy adolescent American football player presented […]
  • Blast exposure and long-term diagnoses among veterans: a millennium cohort study investigation of high-level blast and low-level blast
CONCLUSION: This study contributes to the growing body of evidence on the long-term effects of BOP on brain health. These findings may inform policy development and educational resources, provide metrics to calculate the potential financial burden on the VHA and increase understanding of long-term health outcomes associated with blast exposure. By utilizing a prospective design […]
  • Low Utility and Yield of Routine Outpatient CT Imaging in Patients With Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Intracranial Hemorrhage
CONCLUSION: In clinically stable mild‑TBI patients with ICH, routine outpatient CT changed management in only 1% of cases. A symptom- or risk‑based imaging strategy appears safe and could markedly reduce radiation exposure, scanner congestion, and cost.
