  • IGF-1 as a biomarker for symptom severity in adolescents with traumatic brain injury
CONCLUSIONS: Adolescents with msTBI experienced greater post-injury symptom severity and anxiety than those with mTBI. Low IGF-1 levels correlated with greater post-injury symptom severity, anxiety, and depression (msTBI only), supporting IGF-1 as a potential biomarker in adolescent TBI.
  • Video analysis of head impacts in top-level female football players: a cohort study
This study aimed at exploring the exposure of head impacts, i.e. headers and non-headers, in top-level female football players. The study included all teams (n = 10) and players (n = 238) in the Norwegian Women's Premier League during the 2023 season. Video analysis was used to register headers and non-headers in the 135 matches […]
  • Using machine learning to predict concussion recovery time: The importance of psychological and symptomatic factors
CONCLUSIONS: Post-injury depressive symptoms, anxiety, and sleep had a stronger influence in predicting prolonged recovery time than previously identified injury-related variables (e.g. loss of consciousness, headache). While promising, ML may not outperform traditional models depending on the simplicity and linearity of the predictor variables.
  • Cardiovascular and Respiratory Responses During Graded Exercise in Adolescents After Sport-Related Concussion
CONCLUSIONS: No evidence of aerobic deconditioning was found within 10 days of injury. Our study found attenuated cardiopulmonary responses to progressive aerobic exercise, which may be a cause for exercise intolerance in concussed adolescent athletes. Additional research is warranted to determine if this may be related to altered autonomic nervous system regulation.
  • A Comparative Study on the Trends of Blood Glucose, Serum Triglycerides, and CRP-Based Levels in Correlation with GCS among Patients with Traumatic Head Injury
CONCLUSION: The decreasing trend in glucose levels in group 2 and increasing trend in CRP levels in group 1 are due to the same pathogenesis, which is associated with the severity of head injury. Increased trends in triglyceride levels were seen in both the groups. Since the association of levels of these parameters and their […]
