  • Recognition and Detection of Concussion in the Community: Implications for Primary Care in the UK
Concussion, a subset of traumatic brain injury, is prevalent in both adults and children and can result in a range of short-term and long-term symptoms that can significantly impair an individual's overall quality of life. Lifestyle factors, such as engaging in high-impact sports may increase the likelihood of sustaining a concussion. Recently, there has been […]
  • The influence of concussion history on turning gait performance
CONCLUSION: Those with a concussion history demonstrated moderately shorter step length, but the lack of any other significant findings limits clinical applicability. Greater perceived dual-task demands can be used to ensure more self-perceived challenges are being utilized during rehabilitation.
  • Where's your head at? Perceptions and utilisation of concussion prevention and rehabilitation strategies in women's and men's rugby union
CONCLUSIONS: This study underscores the variation in perceived importance and utilisation of prevention and rehabilitation strategies in rugby. It emphasises the necessity for education to help remove barriers with the aim of optimising programme implementation and utility.
  • Applying the ICRP model to writing recommendations in a neuropsychological evaluation for brain injury populations
CONCLUSION: This unique approach to creating recommendations and treatment plans for brain injury recovery may be more time intensive than a traditional outpatient neuropsychological evaluation, but includes the added benefit of collaborating with the patient, family/caregivers, and treatment team to maximize rehabilitation success and improve quality of life.
  • Barriers experienced by visually impaired rugby players when undertaking concussion assessment: a qualitative investigation
Previous work has conjectured that visually impaired athletes may face barriers when attempting concussion assessments because they can present with signs of concussion as part of their condition. The present study aimed to explore the qualitative experiences of visually impaired players undertaking the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool 5 (SCAT5). Four visually impaired Physical Disability Rugby […]
