  • Transitions in Independent Living, Productivity, and Social Relationships Among Individuals Sustaining Traumatic Brain Injury in Adolescence: A TBI Model Systems Investigation
OBJECTIVE: To characterize transitions in independent living, productivity, and social relationships over the first 5 years postinjury among adolescents sustaining complicated mild to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) between ages 16 and 18.
  • Impact of prior concussion history on concussion symptoms and health-related quality of life in an underrepresented and historically excluded population
CONCLUSION: Black/African American adolescent athletes with a history of concussion endorsed higher concussion symptoms, higher symptom severity, and more psychological stress. This underscores the importance of incorporating HRQoL measures post-injury and the inclusion of underrepresented populations to promote a more holistic understanding of concussions.
  • Retrospective Evaluation of Stair-Related Injuries in Dogs Presenting to Emergency Centers: 61 Cases (2017-2022)
CONCLUSION: Falls involving stairs are associated with various forms of injury in dogs. Many cases were mild, allowing for outpatient management. In some cases, it may be difficult to determine whether the fall caused the injury or whether disease precipitated the fall (e.g., myelopathy, pathological fracture). The small sample size of this population likely limited […]
  • Sport-related Concussion Can be Prevented by Injury Prevention Program: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Prospective, Controlled Studies
CONCLUSIONS: SRC prevention programs provided a significant protection effect, reducing injury rates by 34%. Importantly, their efficacy remains consistent across both physical training and educational-based programs, as well as in various exposure contexts. However, further prospective studies are needed to develop injury prevention protocols specifically for females and to investigate factors that may influence the […]
