  • Performance and Physiological Response to the Buffalo Concussion Treadmill Test Can Identify Autonomic Dysfunction in the General Adult Population With Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Prospective Observational Study
CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that the inability to exercise to a threshold HR of 90% of an individual's age-predicted maximum HR is a better indicator of autonomic dysfunction. HRR may be prolonged in those with a mild TBI, but caution should be taken if attributing this to physiological dysfunction as the predominant factor appears to […]
  • Does the presence of acute sleep initiation symptoms impact recovery from sport-related concussion?
CONCLUSIONS: Although not independent predictors, acute sleep initiation symptoms were linked to delayed recovery. Strategies to optimize sleep acutely post-concussion may help facilitate timely recovery and improve outcomes.
  • Association between antithrombotic medications and intracranial hemorrhage among older patients with mild traumatic brain injury: a multicenter cohort study
CONCLUSION: This study found no association between AT medications and an increased risk of ICH among older patients with mTBI suggesting that routine neuroimaging in this population may offer limited benefit and that additional variables should be considered in the imaging decision.
  • Impact of repetitive soccer heading on brain health outcomes: a narrative review
Repetitive head impacts (RHIs) from soccer heading pose significant risks to brain health and cognitive function. While concussions are well-recognized, RHIs often lack immediate symptoms, potentially leading to gradual neurocognitive decline over time. This narrative review synthesizes current research on the effects of soccer heading on brain structure, cognitive skills, and mental well-being. Advanced neuroimaging […]
  • Stockholm Score of Lesion Detection on Computed Tomography following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (SELECT-TBI) Study: Pilot Analysis and Statistical Analysis Plan
CONCLUSION: Our preliminary results demonstrate the potential for a data-driven approach to generate personalized risk stratification tools. With a final cohort size expected to exceed 40 000 patients, we anticipate being able to create more granular models optimized for integration into clinical decision-making.
