  • Prevalence of post-traumatic hypopituitarism in active-duty service members receiving comprehensive care for traumatic brain injury (TBI) and psychological health: A military mild TBI cohort study
Objective: The prevalence of neuroendocrine dysfunction (NED) following mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) remains obscure, with widely varying prevalence estimates. This study aimed to determine prevalence of NED among central hypogonadism, central hypothyroidism, and growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in active-duty military service members (SMs) receiving comprehensive TBI and psychological health care and characterize TBI burden, […]
  • A multicenter, international, randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled study of the efficacy and safety of inosine-nicotinamide-riboflavin-succinic acid in the acute period of traumatic brain injury in adults
CONCLUSION: Treatment with INRSA was associated with improvement in mild TBI outcome, which represents a new potential option for the pharmacological treatment of non-fatal head injury. Further studies might be of research interest and clinical demand.
  • CT Brain Utilization After Low-Risk Head Injury in Adults: A Retrospective Cohort Study and Literature Review
Introduction Falls in adults aged ≥65 years contribute substantially to emergency department presentations and mild traumatic brain injury, with variable risk of intracranial hemorrhage. Existing CT decision tools often exclude older adults, resulting in potentially unnecessary imaging. This study aimed to identify predictors of intracranial pathology in all adults and compare older versus younger patients […]
  • Loss of Fatty Acid Oxidation by Neural Stem and Progenitor Cells Increases Proliferation but Does Not Improve Long-Term Neurogenesis After Mild Traumatic Brain Injury
Neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus is a conserved and highly regulated process throughout the lifespan. Hippocampal neural stem and progenitor cells (NSPCs) can either transition into an activated proliferative state or remain quiescent. Accumulating data suggests that mitochondrial fatty acid β-oxidation is important in maintaining NSPCs quiescence under normal physiological conditions; however, […]
