  • Impact of knowledge and attitude on inappropriate post-concussion behaviors in competitive cyclists
CONCLUSIONS: An association was found between concussion knowledge and return to competition without a period of rest post-injury, as well as between attitude toward concussion and return to competition with symptoms. Therefore, these findings can contribute to concussion education among cyclists.
  • Living in the Shadows: My Personal Perspective With Mental Health After a Concussion

  • Knockout of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 gene expression improves depressive and anxiety-like phenotypes in a murine model of mild traumatic brain injury
CONCLUSION: IDO deficiency prevented mTBI-induced anxiety- and depressive-like behaviors and altered neurotrophic factor levels regionally. These findings implicate IDO in post-mTBI behavioral and neurotrophic responses, warranting further study of kynurenine pathway metabolites and downstream signaling to clarify the mechanism underlying the role of IDO in mTBI outcomes.
  • Interpreting Change in Sport Concussion Assessment Tool-5th Edition (SCAT5) Scores in National Rugby League Women's Premiership Players
CONCLUSION: SCAT5 scores had low to moderate test-retest reliability across a one-year period. Reliable change scores for the SCAT5 were developed in this study for use with professional women rugby league players. When evaluating post-injury SCAT5 scores, it can be helpful to consider both what the score means compared to normative reference values and compared […]
  • An update on paediatric traumatic brain injury in the emergency department: a narrative review

Presentations range from mild to severe, and each case presents unique challenges to the Emergency Department (ED) clinicians. Most paediatric TBIs are mild, and several validated clinical decision rules (CDRs) such […]
