  • A Novel NLRP3 Inhibitor AMS-17 Rescues Deficits in Long-Term Potentiation Following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury in Adult C57Bl/6 Mice
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of long-term disability, with limited effective treatment options. A key factor of TBI pathophysiology is neuroinflammation, which can involve the activation of the nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome. Aberrant inflammation following injury has the ability to reduce the capacity to induce long-term changes in […]
  • Comorbidity and modifiable risk factors in multiple sclerosis
Multi-system comorbidities are common in patients with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) and significantly influence the disease's presentation and progression. A comorbidity is defined as an illness other than the specific disease of interest (in this case, MS). Generally, chronic or recurrent conditions are included, while transient conditions such as infection or concussion are excluded. Certain modifiable […]
  • Physical activity and caloric expenditure after adolescent concussion: a comparison with uninjured controls
CONCLUSION: Adolescents after recent concussion demonstrated lower PA and expended fewer calories than uninjured controls, indicating that it may take several weeks after concussion to resume PA levels similar to uninjured peers. Our results may reflect participants following concussion guidelines/physician guidance to gradually increase PA during concussion recovery as tolerated without symptom exacerbation, leading to […]

  • Establishing Normative Data for Single- and Dual-Task Tandem Gait in Healthy Interuniversity Male and Female Athletes
CONCLUSIONS: Healthy male athletes performed single- and dual-task tandem gait faster than female athletes. In addition, most athletes performed below the "normal" ranges according to SCOAT6 criteria, suggesting that normative performance values for tandem gait may need revisiting to enhance clinical interpretation.
